The Canadian Health Minister, Honourable Jane Philpott has announced
intentions to move forward with regulations on vaping products including KR808D battery and other e-cigarette items.
According to her statements, the move will balance the need to
protect young people from nicotine addiction while allowing adult smokers to
legally buy vaping products and e-cigarettes to help quit smoking or as a
potentially less harmful alternative to tobacco.
Previously there were indications that Health Canada would be
utilizing the HESA recommendations which recognized
and recommended that vapour
products have a separate framework from Tobacco Products. We fully support
this approach as it would be much easier to apply any necessary changes as more
research is being done on the products.
